Symbology, Meaning and Interpretation

Upright

Inspiration, New Opportunities, Enthusiasm.

The Ace of Wands shows us at first sight two strong arms holding a thick wood staff.

Most traditional depictions have a single hand raising a wood stick. In our version, the two hands mean that we need steadiness to hold such weight. The Fire that dominates the card could be at the same time life’s creator and destroyer, depending on the way we use it.

Just like the card Strength, an uncontrolled fire from our passions could lead to self-destruction. On the other hand, if we can manage this force we can do amazing things – as we see in the green leaves that sprout from the smallest branches and petioles.

A little further down, the arms seem to lift the stick from inside a volcano, symbolising the internal fire that manifests in the natural world. In other words, an abstract idea from our mental plane finally takes shape in the physical world.

A new exciting project or adventure is starting, and our motivation is constantly stimulated. That is a good sign for our career or even for our domestic life.

It could also mean that our creative energy is flowing, and the inspiration is abundant. It is a great time to focus that strength and put yourself into action.

Reversed

Creative Blocks, Lack of Energy, Delays.

The reversed version of this card suggests that you actually have ideas for new projects, but they are not gaining the sparkle of life to manifest in your life.

That could mean that there are obstacles blocking the energy flow from mental to material plane. You may have doubts about your ideas, perhaps you are afraid to start a new project or laziness subdues you.

The Fire is a prime mover, it is an active powerful force that animates our will. Once it enters our spirits, it is important to take advantage of it to cultivate our creative side. Learn to express yourself to easily channel this Fire into your projects. If you keep it inside for a long time, you will probably get burnt by it.

In addition, you may feel frustrated and anxious with the lack of Fire in your life. Your projects may be dull and lifeless, so you are waiting for exciting new opportunities.

If that is the case, be patient and focused, inspiration may come soon, and you need to be ready to grab it.
